CRYSTAL BAY, Nev. (AP) – The owner of the shuttered Cal Neva Lodge & Casino has filed for bankruptcy, jeopardizing plans once again to reopen the historic resort on the shores of north Lake Tahoe.
Criswell-Radovan, a developer based in Napa Valley, California, purchased the property once owned by Frank Sinatra in 2013 with ambitious renovation plans.
But work on the project came to a halt in December, and the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza reports (http://tinyurl.com/jjp5fhf) Criswell-Radovan filed for bankruptcy last month.
Officials for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency told the Bonanza they remain optimistic the resort on the Nevada-California line eventually will reopen.
David Poitras, a Los Angeles-based lawyer representing the company, is scheduled to appear in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Santa Rosa, California for a status hearing on Aug. 2. He told The Associated Press Tuesday he had no comment.
