OAKLAND (KRON) — A big rig accident is causing major traffic delays on I-980 and I-880 in Oakland Tuesday morning.
The big rig overturned around 8:08 a.m. on westbound I-980 at the northbound I-880 connector in downtown Oakland near the Jackson Street exit.
The big rig fell on its side and spilt gravel all over the freeway.

Traffic is at a standstill on both freeways. One lane of the I-980 connector is open and authorities are diverting traffic around the accident.
KRON 4’s Robin Winston advises to use I-580 or city streets are alternative routes.
Authorities telling drivers to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
Crews estimate that the accident will be cleared by 11 a.m.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and under investigation.
