OCEAN BEACH (KRON) — Over 700 elementary school students in grades 2-5 from San Francisco and Marin joined forces today to make quite a statement at Ocean Beach.
After cleaning up litter on the beach, the children sent the public a message about the need to come together to protect the ocean.
The students joined to form an image of a leopard shark.
Leopard sharks are found locally in the Pacific Ocean, and use the San Francisco Bay as a nursery for their young.
The event was put on by the Marine Science Institute of Redwood City with help from the California Coastal Commission and the Whale Tail License Plate fund.
