With the help of technology, San Pablo police nabbed three people wanted for shooting and robbing another man.
San Pablo police say when it comes to committing crimes using social media, criminals should realize they’ve got their own tech to stop them.
Gunshots caught using ShotSpotter technology on the night of Oct. 29.
San Pablo police say a man was shot four times along California Avenue and Rumrill Boulevard.
With this technology, officers were able to respond to the scene within seconds.
“We’re very fortunate to have this technology and to have these resources available to us because in instances like this during an investigation, we’re able to see what happened what occurred,” San Pablo police Lt. Brian Bubar said.
Lt. Bubar says after speaking with the victim, investigators learned he was dealing marijuana to three others. They shot him and stole the drugs.
Police then used their surveillance cameras equipped with license plate detection throughout the city.
They back-tracked the trio’s steps leading up to the crime.
“We’re not hiding our technology,” Lt. Bubar said. “We want to let it be known that if you commit criminal acts in the City of San Pablo, the likelihood that you’re going to be apprehended is much greater in San Pablo because of the technology that we have.”
Police were able to use the victim’s Snapchat and Facebook to identify and arrest the three suspects.
They are 30-year-old Raymond Keeton and 19-year-old Shavoni Keeton.
And 19-year old Jada Murry is now facing attempted murder charges.
Police say the weapon used was made to shoot high powered ammo that closely resembles what you would find in an assault rifle.
Police say they need help finding it and for people to come forward with more information about this crime.
The district attorneys office is expected to officially charge the three suspects on Friday.
The victim is not facing charges at this time.
