SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—One person has been arrested for allegedly stealing a San Francisco fire department vehicle Sunday night from a station in the South of Market neighborhood.
The battalion chief’s SUV was taken around 8:40 p.m. from Station 8 near Bluxome and Fifth streets, said fire department spokesman Jonathan Baxter.
The car was found 20 minutes later on the 700 block of Folsom Street and one person was taken into custody.
No one was injured and the vehicle was not damaged, Baxter said.
The garage door of the station was open at the time the car was stolen.
The suspect was able to slip into the station without firefighters noticing he was there, according to the fire department.
The fire department is working with police to investigate the case.
Police have not released the identity of the suspect.
