SONOMA COUNTY (KRON) — The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with a shooting that reportedly occurred at a residence in the 5600 block Old Redwood Highway in Petaluma early Friday morning.
Woodruff Hilton, a 22-year-old Penngrove man, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon – firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime, obstructing an investigation and violation of probation, sheriff’s Sgt. Cecile Focha said.
Daveon Hicks, a 20-year-old man from Fairfax in Marin County, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the assault with a firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime and obstructing an investigation, as well as a violation of probation, she added.
Both men, she said, were booked into Sonoma County jail and are being held without bail,
A neighbor called the sheriff’s office around 4 a.m. stating someone had been shot, Focha explained.
As well, the Sonoma County fire and emergency dispatch center was informed at approximately 3:44 a.m. about a shooting near a 7-Eleven in the area of 5312 Old Redwood Highway and North McDowell Boulevard, a dispatcher said.
The victim was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital, the dispatcher said. Petaluma police also received a call at 3:44 a.m. from Petaluma Valley Hospital about a man with a gunshot wound, Focha said. Petaluma police officers went to the hospital and determined the victim was likely shot at the aforementioned residence, Focha said.
Thereafter, deputies went to the residence and found blood and other evidence of a shooting, Focha said. Detectives continue to investigate the crime, including the events leading up to and following the shooting, Focha said, and they are still searching for and collecting further evidence associated with the crimes.
The victim remains in a local hospital and being treated for a gunshot wound, Focha said. He is expected to survive his injury, she added, and detectives will interview him when he has recovered.
