EMERYVILLE (KRON) — One of three suspects was arrested in connection with attempted auto burglary on Wednesday in Emeryville, police said.

Police said a security guard spotted three male suspects in a car casing vehicles in two parking lots.

At 1:42 p.m. on Wednesday, a security guard working in the area of Powell Street Plaza called police to report the three suspects casing vehicles in the parking lot of the Black Bear Diner at 5750 Christie Ave.

Officers responded and found the car, a black Acura sedan, in the Emeryville Public Market. Two suspects were in the Acura, which had its left rear door open, according to police.

A third suspect, 28-year-old Desmond Harris, had his hands around his face and his face up against the window of a Honda Element. Officers stopped to talk to all three suspects, but the driver of the Acura sped away, leaving Harris behind.

Officers detained Harris and allege he was trying to break into the Honda.

The security guard identified Harris as the person he saw get out of the Acura and look into several vehicles in the Black Bear Diner and the Plaza parking lots, police said.

Harris was also arrested on suspicion of violating probation.Bay City News contributed to this report.
