PLEASANTON (BCN) — Two people were displaced and one suffered minor injuries in an attic fire in Pleasanton Friday afternoon, firefighters said.

Crews were dispatched to a single-family residence in the 600 block of Grapevine Drive at 2:12 p.m. on report of a structure fire, and arriving personnel found smoke coming from the roof vents.

They found the fire in the attic and extinguished it within five minutes.

One of the residents had heard a smoke detector going off intermittently for “a couple of hours.”

A man described by firefighters as elderly burned his hands on hot embers while trying to access the attic, and was transported to a hospital for minor to moderate injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the damage was limited to the attic, roof and ceilings, firefighters said.
