SANTA ROSA (KRON) — One person is dead and another injured after a collision near Santa Rosa in Sonoma County Sunday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2004 Hyundai Sonata heading west on Bennett Valley Road tried to pass another car.

The driver steered across a double yellow line around a curve and lost control of the car.

California Highway Patrol officials say the driver spun clockwise and faced oncoming traffic when it was hit head-on by a Dodge Neon.

The Neon struck the driver’s side of the Sonata and the Sonata overturned, killing the driver. CHP officials said the driver of the Neon suffered moderate injuries and an ambulance took her to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
