One dead following early Sunday Orinda highway crash

ORINDA (BCN) — A fatal vehicle collision occurred early Sunday morning on State Highway 24 in Orinda, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers received reports of the collision near the State Highway 24 eastbound Stephen’s Drive off ramp at 2:57 a.m., according to the CHP.

One person is dead as a result of the crash, the CHP said.

Initially, officers closed the first, second and third lanes as they investigated the crash, the CHP said. As of 5 a.m., officers had reopened the third lane.

Investigators remained on the scene trying to determine a cause for the collision, according to a CHP dispatcher.
