(KRON) — A woman from Oklahoma is facing child neglect charges after she says she accidentally gave her baby formula mixed with vodka.
The woman told police she went out drinking Friday night and filled a water bottle with vodka.
She said when she returned home, a friend put the water bottle next to the baby’s items, and she grabbed it to make formula for the morning. Police said the mother realized something was wrong when she tried to burp the baby and could smell alcohol coming from the child’s breath.
A friend of the mother said this was all a big mistake.
Hospital staff members said the 4-month-old girl had a blood-alcohol level of .19 percent.
The woman was later arrested and is facing charges.
Police have not addressed the baby’s condition on Sunday morning.
