Oklahoma toddler rescued from vehicle, mother arrested

OWASSO, Okla. (KRON) — Police say a couple rescued a 1-year-old child who was left alone in a hot vehicle in a Walmart parking lot for almost an hour.

A police camera caught the moment when the 38-year-old mother came out of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in a northern suburb of Tulsa and was confronted with the news that her child had been left inside her vehicle. The woman is seen crying and screaming, “I can’t believe I did that!”

A police report says the child was left alone for about 45 minutes in the minivan which reached internal temperatures of 120 to 138 degrees.

A couple in the parking lot said they heard a noise coming from the vehicle and then saw the baby inside. They quickly responded by finding one of the minivan’s doors unlocked and pulling the child out. They then called 911.

The baby was brought to St. John Medical Center in Owasso for treatment, and was released into the custody of her father.

The mother, identified as Hannah Secondi, told officers that she had forgotten her child was in the vehicle when she went into the store.

The woman is being held on $50,000 bond on child abuse charges.
