The name of the officer who shot a suspect in the back in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood has been released.
Officer Joshua Cabillo, a five-year veteran, was part of a group of officers who approached four men on June 9.
When one of the men started to run away, the officer opened fire, saying the suspect had a gun. A handgun was later recovered at the scene.
Police say the men were seen earlier with an open container of alcohol.
The suspect, Oliver Bacenas, was shot in the back.
He remains in the hospital.
