DALY CITY (KRON) — Police in Daly City are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred when a law enforcement official was dragged by a vehicle trying to evade a traffic stop, and his partner opened fire on the car.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the vicinity of Crocker Avenue, according to Sgt. Harold Rolfes.
“There was a countywide task force that was out doing gang enforcement,” Rolfes said.
“They did a vehicle stop and sometime during the vehicle stop when one of the officers was contacting the driver, the driver tried to drive off, dragging the officer,” Rolfes said. “His cover officer fired into the vehicle.” Rolfes said he did not believe the officer who got dragged was injured.
The suspect was driving a white Chrysler 300 as it drove away, dragging the officer.
The vehicle continued to flee the area and was last seen heading north on Brunswick Street, police said.
As of Wednesday night police had not yet released information about the occupants of the vehicle, or whether they had been wounded by the gunfire.
According to police, the suspect is still at large. The scene where the officer was dragged is now clear.
The shooting is under investigation and authorities are looking for the suspect vehicle. Further details were not immediately available.
