OAKLAND (KRON) – After two days on the picket line, representatives from the Oakland Teacher’s Union and the School District will be back at the negotiation tables.
The fact that they are agreeing to talk is a good sign, but if no deal is reached today, thousands of teachers will be back on the picket lines on Monday morning.
Teachers are asking for a 12-percent raise.
With rain in the forecast this week, about 3,000 ponchos have been ordered if strikes continue.
During days one and two, teachers were met by parents and students at all 86 schools in the district.
Negotiations are happening today. By 6pm, it will be known if there is a deal or if strikes will take place on Monday for day three.
