OAKLAND (KRON) — An Oakland police officer was injured Saturday evening on duty on 73rd Avenue.
A source tells KRON4 News, that a female officer was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland, and Mayor Libby Schaaf is making her way to the hospital.
According to the Oakland police, the officer was shot at but not struck. The location of the shooting was in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue and Weld Avenue.
According to Officer Johnna Watson of Oakland Pd, the injured police officer is alert, conscious and speaking with investigators. The injured female has sustained injuries, and is continuing treatment at Highland Hospital.
Police say the suspect is an armed African-American male in his 30’s and is considered dangerous.
