OAKLAND (BCN) — Police said three people were shot to death over the weekend in separate incidents in Oakland.
Oakland police released the names of two Sunday homicide victims Tuesday, including a woman killed as she helped to clean up after a birthday party.
Lakeya Venson, 30, of Oakland, had stayed behind at a relative’s home in the 9200 block of Sunnyside Street to help clean up after the party.
She was standing outside shortly after 1 a.m. when a man opened fire on them and fled in a car, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.
Venson was hit by gunfire and was taken to a hospital, where she died.
She was shot less than an hour after Brian Bole, 30, of Oakland, was shot in the 3000 block of Richmond Boulevard, Watson said. He was found suffering gunshot wounds at about 12:15 a.m. and died at the scene, police said.
Police have announced no arrests in either shooting and did not disclose any information about a possible motive.
The third person was shot at 4 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of 40th Avenue, Henry said. The victim died where they were shot
