OAKLAND (KRON) — Oakland police are looking for people who may have seen a man who was killed on Friday before his death.

47-year-old Royce Vaughn was killed around 11 p.m. in an auto-pedestrian hit-and-run accident in the 800 block of 28th Street in Oakland.

When police got to the accident, Vaughn was on the street and unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

The driver of the vehicle that hit him left before police arrived. Police say the vehicle involved is described as a 2013 Toyota SUV, white in color, model FJ Cruiser.

Police think that prior to his death, Vaughn may have been a patron of a local bar or restaurant.

Vaughn is described a male Caucasian, 47 years old, 6’4″, 220 pounds, with brown eyes and dark curly hair. He was wearing a blue and white plaid shirt and gray jeans. The above photo shows Vaughn at an earlier date; more recently, his hair was worn long and curly on top and shaved short on the sides, with some gray. He is described outgoing and could be loud on occasion.

Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Oakland Police Department OPD Criminal Investigation Division at (510) 238-7950 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland TIP LINE (510) 777-8572.
