OAKLAND (KRON) — Starting June 6th, Oakland Animal Services introduces its Summer of Free Love event. The shelter will waive adoption fees on all longer term resident pets, including dogs, cats and rabbits.
“Sometimes our adoptions are free but we know the love shelter pets provide is priceless,” says shelter director Rebecca Katz.
To adopt a dog, a family must show they are allowed to have that animal in their home, either by showing proof of ownership or by having a lease or letter from a landlord stating they can have a dog. The shelter recommends all family members be present for the adoption of any pet to ensure a good match.
The free adoption event continues through June 30th.
Oakland Animal Services is located at 1101 29th Avenue in Oakland. The shelter is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-7:00 pm, closed Wednesday, open Friday 2:00-4:00 pm, and open Saturday and Sunday noon-5:00 pm.
