NOVATO (KRON) — Novato High School is back open on Tuesday after a student was shot dead and another was stabbed last week.
Josue Ramirez Guerra, 17, of San Rafael was shot and killed last Wednesday night on a Novato trail near the end of Fairway Drive at around 5 p.m. Another male student was found injured.
The second shooting victim is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries is expected to survive.
So far, three people have been detained in connection to the crime but police say another possible suspect is at large.
Two Novato High School students were arrested on Thursday after police performed multiple high-risk tactical raids near the school, according to Marin County sheriff officials.
Elmer Machado-Rivera, 20, of San Rafael, was arrested Sunday for conspiracy after the fact, according to the Marin County Sheriffs Office.
Police are still searching for a fourth suspect, also a student at Novato High.
Machado-Rivera was not the third suspect the police were looking for during last week’s raids, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities said that Novato High School will not be on heightened security alert on Tuesday and that the shooting only affected the small circle of men.
