A North Bay man was arrested for allegedly videotaping victims in a public bathroom.

The crime reportedly occurred at the Northgate Mall in San Rafael.

Police say this suspect has been arrested before on a similar crime.

Police say the female victim was using a family bathroom here at Northgate Mall when she noticed a cellphone pointing at her recording her every move.

Police said the man removed a panel from the bathroom and tried to hide the phone with the panel. That’s when police say he put it on record.

The female victim said the phone was still recording when she found it and called the police.

Police are trying to get a search warrant on the cellphone.

But they recognized the suspect from surveillance video and were able to arrest.

The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Damian Uriel Maldonado of Novato.

He is currently in jail.

The Marin County District Attorney is reviewing the case now for charges.
