North Bay Car Chase Ends Deadly

PETALUMA (KRON) — A man has died after leading deputies with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office on a car chase along Highway 1 Monday evening.

Around 6:30, the sheriff’s office received a call about a man with a gun inside the Washoe House bar.

According to the 911 caller, the man was holding a gun and threatening to kill people.

At time, the man was heard to understand.

As deputies were responding to the emergency call, the man left the bar.

One of the deputies saw the man’s car on Walker Road, near pepper road and tried to pull the man over.

The driver pulled over, but when the deputy got out of his car to approach the driver, then man drove off.

A high-speed char chase on rural roads then ensued, lasting about ten minutes.

Deputies clocked the man’s car going as fast as 100 miles per hour at times.

The crash didn’t end until the driver crashed his car into a tree on Hwy 1, just north of Bodega Highway, setting the mans car on hire immediately.

The massive car fire and damage to the vehicle kept deputies from being able to rescue the man.

He died at the scene.

The man has not been identified yet.
