FRESNO, Calif. (AP) – Prosecutors in Central California say they will not pursue criminal charges against two Fresno police officers who shot and killed an unarmed 19-year-old man.
Fresno County’s district attorney said in a statement Friday afternoon that after a complete and thorough review, he found no criminal conduct by Officer Raymond Camacho or Officer Robert Chavez in their shooting of Dylan Nobel in June.
A criminal prosecution had appeared very unlikely after police Chief Jerry Dyer said a week ago that the officers acted within department policy on fatal force.
The two officers shot Noble during a daytime traffic stop. Video captured by officers’ body camera shows Noble refusing repeated commands to show both of his hands, or be shot.
Both of Noble’s parents have filed lawsuits against the department.
