PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two moms working for Nissan are making remembering things in your car a little easier.

Elsa Foley and Marlene Mendoza, who double as engineers, pitched a back-seat alarm to the automaker.

It reminds drivers of anything that may be forgotten in the rear seat — like kids, pets, or leftovers.

A rear door alert will monitor how often you open and close your door.

If it finds that a door was open and closed — but not reopened again — it will alert the driver using a series of distinctive honks.

The new technology will debut in the 2018 Pathfinder SUV when it’s released next month.
