WILMETTE, Ill. (KXAN) — A neighbor who saw a little girl walking her dog alone in Wilmette, Illinois called the police, which led to a frightening ordeal for the child’s parents.
Corey Widen says she allowed her 8-year-old daughter Dorothy to walk the family’s dog Marshmallow near their home. Widen says a neighbor then called police stating the child was unaccompanied.
When police arrived, they determined nothing was wrong but Widen says the state’s Department of Children and Family Services contacted her two days later as part of the investigation.
“Apparently this person was not happy with that and then they called DCFS and told them again my daughter was under 5 and had been unsupervised for other an hour and a half,” Widen said.
