Nearly four years ago, 14-year-old Reagan Class was shot in the head.

Her doctors said if she survived she’d be in a vegetative state.

They were wrong– Not only did she survive but Monday night, she graduated from high school.

As Reagan read the senior quote printed on her graduation announcements, she can’t help but think about the life she’s already lived and how it was nearly cut short in July 2015.

14 at the time, Reagan and her mom were shot inside their Northland home at point blank range by an unknown gunman.

The man in a composite sketch remains on the loose.

“It’s scary. I mean for all I know he could be right down the block,” Reagan said.

Reagan doesn’t remember a lot about the morning of the shooting.

She spent three months in the hospital, several more in rehab and has undergone 11 surgeries related to her injuries.

“I don’t even know if she understands how bad to this day, how bad her injuries were. The first thing she talks about is her shoulder or her thumb or something like that when a big chunk of her brain is gone,” Daniel Class, Reagan’s dad, said.

Daniel Class says his daughter nearly missed her entire freshman year of high school.

“For her to still graduate on time with the class of ’19. Pretty amazing,” Class said.

“That’s definitely really exciting,” Reagan said.

Once an ‘A’ student, she struggled quite a bit after the shooting. Still, she pushed past the pain and adversity and earned her diploma.

“People use the word miraculous a lot and to see what she’s been through, the word isn’t even strong enough,” Class said.

Outside of the obvious scars, the 17-year-old also has trouble processing information but her family believes she’s going to be just fine.

“There will be plenty of people that will appreciate what she’s been able to do,” Class said.

While Reagan says her journey has been far from easy, she says she won’t let what happened to her define her future.

“I’m definitely proud of myself and yes it was definitely hard,” Reagan said.

“God kept her here for a reason,” Class said.

Almost four years later, police still don’t know what the shooter’s motive was.

There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Reagan says she hopes to continue her education and become a pharmacist one day.
