The man accused of sending at least 13 pipe bombs through the mail is facing at least five federal charges.

Florida resident, 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc, was arrested Friday following an urgent four-day nationwide manhunt.

He is being held in a federal jail in Miami.

The Director of the FBI warns that there still could be more bombs in the mail.

“I am pleased to participate in this announcement that a suspect is in the custody of the FBI,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said.

More than a dozen explosive devices were mailed to prominent Democrats and critics of President Trump.

A former boss, Debra Gureghian, says Sayoc was a good employee but that he also had, “crazy political views.”

“He told me more than once, ‘Debra, I like you as a manager, but I hate you for being a lesbian. And if I had complete autonomy, you and all of these other people would be eradicated,’” Gureghian said.

Sayoc’s former attorney, Ron Lowry, represented him starting in 2000 or 2001 and says Sayoc was a loner who lacked an understanding of reality.

“He suffered from certainly an identification issue as to who he was. He needed people to be impressed with him,” Lowry said. “He had issues of insecurity.”

What authorities don’t yet know is whether they have recovered all of the suspicious devices, and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

“Each device consisted of roughly six inches of PVC pipe, a small clock, a battery, some wiring and what is known as energetic material,” FBI Director Chris Wray said. “Though we’re still analyzing the devices in our laboratory, these are not hoax devices.”

Sayoc is expected in court on Monday at 2 p.m. in Miami.

He’s facing five federal charges, among them, sending an illegal device and also making threats to a former president and others.

If convicted he could face up to 48 years in prison.

This case will ultimately be prosecuted in New York.
