Democrats are trying to win back a majority in the House, but there’s no guarantee who will lead the party if they succeed.
The Bay Area Democrat professed confidence that if Democrats take control of the House in next month’s midterm elections, Nancy Pelosi will again assume the top leadership position.
Meanwhile, dozens of House candidates have called for a change at the top.
And some have vowed not to support Pelosi’s return as speaker.
“Well, it’s up to them to make that decision, but I feel pretty comfortable where I am on it,” Pelosi said. “I say this because I want women to be confident and don’t let anybody minimize what you have to offer. But I am a great legislator, says she. And one of the reasons I am is because I recognize the contributions of others, our committee chairs and all the rest.”
Pelosi also pointed to subpoena power as a tool to use if the Democrats win House majority.
She says a Democratic majority would use subpoenas “strategically.”
The power is also a useful tool when negotiating on other topics.
