Attorney Scott Gleason says Daniel Frisiello (friz-ee-EHL’-oh) is “an overwhelmed young man.”
A judge has ordered Frisiello held pending a detention hearing Monday.
Gleason says Frisiello has some “issues” and “difficulties” and has been on medication his entire life, but declined to elaborate.

A Massachusetts man charged with sending letters with white powder to five people, including one to Donald Trump Jr., has been placed on leave from his job with a Roman Catholic charitable organization.
Daniel Frisiello (friz-ee-EHL’-oh), of Beverly, was arrested Thursday. He is being held pending a detention hearing scheduled for Monday.
Frisiello worked at Catholic Charities of Boston’s Peabody child care center. Catholic Charities is an arm of the Archdiocese of Boston.
A spokeswoman says Frisiello was placed on leave immediately after the FBI informed the organization of his arrest. It wasn’t immediately known how long he worked there.
The FBI assured the charity that “the charges do not involve any activity in his role at Catholic Charities.”
The organization says it performed a background check on Frisiello when he was hired and is cooperating fully in the FBI investigation.
