ATLANTA (WSAV) – Hundreds of people packed in to hear Oprah speak up for the Democratic nominee for Georgia Governor, Stacey Abrams early Thursday afternoon.

While you, and you, and you didn’t get a car — Oprah reminded everyone of their right and responsibility to vote.

“And you can vote and you can vote,” she said.

Oprah said she called Abrams unsolicited several days ago to offer to campaign for her, inspired by her faith and values.

It’s those qualities she talked openly about on Thursday.

“Has your faith been tested?” Oprah asked.

“When you know who you are and whose you are it is hard to hear someone tell a lie about you.  It can be difficult to meet meanness with kindness,” said Abrams. “You have to make yourself remember the whole Bible, not just the verses that make you feel good in that moment.”

With the buzz surrounding this race, Abrams knows just how important it is for Georgians to get out and vote. She and Oprah agree — it’s a moral imperative.

“For anyone here who had ancestor right to vote choosing not to vote dishonoring your family their suffering and their dreams,” Oprah stated.

This won’t be the first big event for Abrams. Just three days before Election Day, she will appear with President Obama in Atlanta on Friday.

The Democratic candidate is locked in a tight race with GOP pick and Secretary of State Brian Kemp.
