MEBANE, NC (CNN) — A bold 11-year-old North Carolina boy stopped a home invasion with a machete.

Judy Jackson has called Yarborough Road in Mebane home since 1973, but hasn’t heard anything quite like what took place in her neighborhood Friday.

An 11-year-old boy home alone saw two people outside the home.

Meanwhile another man broke a window and went inside.

Investigators say one of the men inside got a pellet rifle, forced the boy into a closet, telling him to stay there.

Officials say the boy however left the closet, grabbed a machete and hit the intruder in the back of the head.

They also tell us the man kicked the boy before turning to grab electronics.

When he noticed he was bleeding, the man dropped the items and left the home with the two other suspects.

Authorities found 19-year-old Jataveon Dashawn Hall when hall showed up to a nearby hospital to get treated for a head wound.

“I was really upset about it. We had some that broke in our house a couple of years.

So they ransacked our house,” Jackson said.

For Jackson, she has one message for anyone looking to cause trouble in their neighborhood again.

“Don’t come to my door,” she said.

The story gets even more interesting.

That wounded suspect managed to elude deputies at the hospital.

UNC Health Care says hall was in the legal custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, but Hall was not being watched by a deputy when he was discharged.

The sheriff says hall slipped out in a gown, holding a cup of water.

County law enforcement and U.S. marshals are searching for him.
