FAIRFIELD (KRON) — On Friday, June 3, 2016, the Fairfield Police Department’s Narcotic Unit and Special Operations Team executed a narcotic based search warrant in the 600 block of Golden Eye Way in Suisun City.

It was discovered that the interior of the residence had been converted into an illegal marijuana cultivation operation. Detectives confiscated 633 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Several plants were harvested and in the drying phase, waiting to be processed in preparation for sales. Additionally, approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana bud was recovered.

Qing Yang Zheng, a 27-year-old male resident of Suisun City, and Zhen Sheng Xu, a 31-year-old male resident of the State of Virginia were located inside and arrested. Both suspects were booked into the Solano County Jail for felony violations related to marijuana sales and cultivation including maintaining a residence for the purposes of trafficking narcotics and conspiracy.

Detectives estimated the potential street value of the marijuana to be $284,850 to $2,469,689. This value varies based on the quality of the marijuana product produced and the amount of product by weight yielded from 633 plants. Based on the investigation, detectives believe the operation is likely related to an Asian Organized Crime group from the San Francisco area.

Indoor marijuana cultivation can be disguised or concealed in any neighborhood including yours. Cultivation operations require extreme amounts of electricity, water, heat and chemical pesticide to create the proper habitat and atmosphere for optimum growth. These operations are an extreme fire and health hazard and are often targets of home invasion robberies carried out by other criminals.

Here are some helpful tips that may help you identify an illegal, indoor marijuana cultivation operation within your neighborhood:

• New home owners or renters arrive and no furniture is moved into the home.

• The owners typically use the garage door only.

• The owners are seen moving in construction materials such as sheetrock and 2×4 or similar lumber.

• Visitors typically use the garage door only and often bring construction materials.

• The sound of heavy construction is heard from within the home.

• The owners are seen moving in large containers of chemicals/fertilizer, garden soil and boxes.

• Interior lights from within the home are never seen through any windows.

• Interior Lights seen within the home turn on and off at the exact same time each day.

• The sound of a fan or other motor is constantly heard.

• The home owners are rarely seen.

• An over use of surveillance cameras placed around the residence.
