NAPA COUNTY (BCN) — A Napa County business was the target of a scam involving false invoices for fire safety inspections that were never conducted, Napa County District Attorney’s officials said Thursday.

The unidentified business received a $411.11 bill from “Red Mountain Security & Fire Protection” for “an annual state-required fire safety equipment inspection, test and certification,” according to the district attorney’s office.

The invoice listed an address of 4435 N. First St. #353 in Livermore, which is a United Parcel Service store mailbox. The invoice requested payment be submitted to “RMS” at the Livermore address.

Red Mountain Security & Fire Protection does not appear to be a legitimate business, district attorney’s officials said.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office has charged Robert Lorin Musich in Pomona in connection with a fire inspection scam that was committed against 834 victims in California. The total loss was over $200,000, prosecutors said.

Lorin was arrested Thursday in Pomoma, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley said in a new release.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office issued a public alert on Aug. 9 about the Red Mountain Security and Fire Protection scam in Santa Barbara County where the typical bogus invoice was between $300 and $400.

Musich faces 11 years and eight months in prison if he is convicted, Dudley said. He will be transferred to Los Angeles County and the Santa Barbara County jails for arraignments in those counties.
