Naked Georgia man arrested for drug-induced rage

SAVANNAH, Ga. – SCMPD officers arrested a man early Thursday morning after a drug-induced rage that left buildings and cars damaged, and several people, including police officers, hurt.

It all started around 2:00am Thursday morning. Officers responded to a call of a nude man breaking windows at the Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurant on East Highway 80. Several windows of the business were broken as well as windows of parked cars nearby.

The man in question, identified as 21-year-old Brandyn Johnson, got into a car as officers approached him. Officers stopped the car at Highway 80 and Twelve Oaks Lane where Johnson got out and fled into nearby woods. Investigators say he then broke-in to a home in the 100 block of Twelve Oaks lane where he attacked a resident there, before fleeing back into the woods.

The resident was seriously injured in the attack and was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Officers located Johnson who attacked them. They used pepper spray, tasers, and muscling techniques to subdue Johnson. In the process, police say Johnson tried to remove an officer’s firearm and taser, before he was subdued.

Several of the officers were injured in the struggle and were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say it appears Johnson was under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs. He was also taken to the hospital for injuries and detoxification.

Johnson is charged with two counts of 2nd degree damage to property, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, burglary, two counts of attempted removal of a weapon from a public official and three counts of battery.
