DUBLIN (KRON) — Murder suspect Anthony Sims was a no-show in court Friday morning.
19-year-old Sims was arrested in connection with the Oakland murder of Chyemil Pierce.
Pierce was shot in the back of the head while shielding her children.
Sims has been charged with murder and various gun charges for the murder of 30-year-old Pierce.
He was expected to appear at the Alameda County Courthouse in Dublin Friday morning for be assigned an attorney and enter a plea.
That has been rescheduled for March 19 at 9 a.m.
Sources say Sims wants to hire a his own attorney rather than use a public defender.
Sims was arraigned Thursday afternoon and is being held without bond at the Santa Rita Jail.
