MOUNTAIN VIEW (KRON) — Mountain View police have arrested a 29-year-old man accused of groping a 10-year-old girl inside a downtown Mountain View business, police said.

According to police, it happened at around 8:49 p.m. on March 1 at Books, Inc., located at 301 Castro Street. Police got a call about a man groping customers, including the girl, in the store.

After officers were given a description of the suspect, who left the store before police arrived, they found him down the block. That is when they arrested 29-year-old Max Davidson, a transient, for the alleged groping.

Police also said they learned Davidson grabbed other women inside the store and had exposed himself to some customers.

He was arrested for indecent exposure, sexual battery, and lewd acts with a child under 14 years old, police said.

“This was a great team effort among MVPD patrol officers, MVPD detectives and the witnesses in our community that assisted us,” Mountain View Det. Ricky Smith said. “Together, we all did our part in taking Davidson off of our streets. Truly great work done by all involved. Way to step up, Mountain View.”

Davidson was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
