Mountain View house fire victim identified

MOUNTAIN VIEW (KRON) — A man who died in a one-alarm house fire in Mountain View early Thursday morning has been identified as 62-year-old Daniel Theodore, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

The fire occurred in the 700 block of Lola Lane around 3:05 a.m. according to fire officials.

Fire crews faced challenges while extinguishing the blaze, including circumnavigating a downed power line, as well as the presence of many firearms and ammunition inside the burning house, fire officials said.

Some of the ammunition was going off due to heat from the flames as firefighters arrived. Firefighters searched the residence after neighbors said a person might still be inside and eventually they located Theodore’s remains, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
