WOODSIDE (BCN) — A resident spotted a mountain lion and a cub in Woodside early Monday morning, according to the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services.
The sighting was reported around 12:30 a.m. Monday near Old La Honda and Portola roads.
The cats never approached the resident and quickly left the roadway, heading back into the tree line. The reported mountain lion sighting was the fourth in Woodside this year, county officials said.
San Mateo County officials want to remind residents that if they see or come across a mountain lion, they should not approach it, especially one that is feeding or with offspring.
County officials also urge residents to avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk, or at night, when mountain lions are most active.
