SAN MATEO (KRON) — A mountain lion was seen Tuesday evening in the Los Trancos Woods area in San Mateo, according to county emergency officials.
The county issued an alert shortly before 7:25 p.m. about the sighting reported in the area of Ramona Road and Carmel Way near the border with Santa Clara County.
Officials are advising residents not to approach a mountain lion, and should avoid the area as well as hiking or jogging at dawn and dusk.
Dawn and dusk are when mountain lions are most active, according to county emergency officials.
