SAN CARLOS (KRON) — The San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services says that a mountain lion was spotted in San Carlos on Wednesday night.
Officials got a call about the feline around 9 p.m. near the area of Crestview Drive and With Ridge Road.
With several mountain lion sightings recently, county officials are reminding people not to approach mountain lions, especially if it is feeding or with its cubs.
They also advise residents not to hike or job at dawn, dusk or night.
That’s when mountain lions are most active.
If people do come into contact with a mountain lion, experts say not to run.
Instead, people are advised to face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving and throwing rocks or other objects.
