VACAVILLE (BCN) — A Vacaville man died Thursday night when his motorcycle went down on a freeway on-ramp in Vacaville and he was run over by a box truck, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The Solano County coroner’s office identified the man as 20-year-old Cameron Nichols.

Nichols was riding a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja on the on-ramp from Browns Valley Parkway to westbound Interstate Highway 80 around 5:37 p.m., CHP Officer Chris Parker said.

Nichols was passing traffic on the left when he lost control of the motorcycle on the dirt left shoulder of the on-ramp, Parker said. The motorcycle went down and Nichols was run over by a 2-axle, 10,000-pound Kenworth box truck driven by a 49-year-old Loma Linda resident.

A Vacaville Fire Department medic pronounced Nichols dead at the scene, Parker said.

The on-ramp was closed until around 11 p.m., Parker said.
