SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—The Marin County Coroner’s Office has identified a 39-year-old man who died Friday night after crashing his motorcycle into a guardrail on the Golden Gate Bridge as Aamir Ahmad Khan of Larkspur.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a report of the crash around 5:55 p.m. on northbound Highway 101.
People reported a motorcyclist speeding and driving recklessly before crashing into the guardrail.
Officers determined during a preliminary investigation that Khan was traveling at a high speed when he drove onto a left curve.
Khan lost control of his motorcycle when he hit the guardrail and got ejected from the guardrail.
Khan landed inside the road, but no cars hit him. Drivers stopped and tried to help Khan, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
The northbound lanes of the Golden Gate Bridge were closed for two hours while officers were investigating the crash.
Officers say they don’t know if Khan was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Khan leaves behind a wife and an infant son, according to his family member.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Khan.
