SAN MATEO (KRON) — A motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a deadly hit-and-run crash on the U.S. Highway 101 connector ramp to eastbound state Highway 92 in San Mateo.
The incident was reported shortly before 6 p.m., when callers reported seeing a person falling from the ramp, according to the CHP.
Officials said a white SUV did a lane change and collided with the motorcycle on the overpass. The person on the motorcycle fell over the side wall and plunged to a field under the overpass.
The SUV stopped for a moment then took off. According to the CHP, the SUV will have damage to the right side of the vehicle.
The southbound U.S. Highway 101 connector ramp to eastbound state Highway 92 is closed and has snarled traffic through the mid-Peninsula. Officials have not said when it might reopen.
Drivers are advised to use Hwy 280 or seek alternate routes.
