MORGAN HILL (KRON) — Residents in Morgan Hill are being advised to stay indoors as the Loma Fire continues to burn in the Santa Cruz mountains.

According to Cal Fire, the blaze has scorched up to 500 acres and has destroyed one structure.

City officials asked residents to stay indoors due to bad air quality caused by the inferno. The fire is ten miles west of Morgan Hill.

Officials said, the city of Morgan Hill are not threatened and there is no expectation that the fire will spread to the area.

Evacuations have been issued for Loma Prieta Ridgeline, Casa Loma Road, Prieta Road and Summit Road to Uvas Canyon Park.

Crews said the fire is zero percent contained.
