MORGAN HILL (KRON) — With temperatures reaching the triple digits in some Bay Area locations, cities in warmer areas are taking precautions to make sure people stay safe during the heat advisory.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Morgan Hill until 8 p.m. on Monday.
Monday will be the hottest day of the year so far this year, especially because the recent weather has been cooler than usual.
Morgan Hill city leaders warned that the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
In Morgan Hill, the Centennial Recreation Center, the Centennial Recreation Senior Center and the Community and Cultural Center are all designated Cooling Centers. Their lobby areas are available for the public to use as a place to find relief from the heat.
The Centennial Recreation Center will be open until 10 p.m. It is located at 171 W. Edmundson Ave. Morgan Hill, CA 95037
The Community and Cultural Center will remain open until 5 p.m. It is located at 17000 Monterey Street in Morgan Hill.
