Morgan Hill high school football field vandalized before season opener

A Morgan Hill high school football team is forced to start the season away from home after their field was vandalized.

Morgan Hill School District Superintendent, Steve Betando, says earlier this week crews left Ann Sobrato High School’s field open overnight so portable stands could be brought in, but vandals took advantage.

“You can see here where they peeled out and created big ruts in the field,” Betando said.

Most of the deep ruts have been filled, but school officials decided to move the game due to safety concerns.

The team and plan are expected to play at Live Oak High School on Saturday which is about 10 minutes away.

The school district is working with police to identify the culprits.

It’s unclear if this was a random act of vandalism or done by a student from a rival high school.
