It seems like most of the Bay Area has spoken — and people are saying, bring back “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to the radio!
After a radio station in Cleveland decided to drop the controversial holiday song amid the #MeToo movement, 96.5 KOIT right here in San Francisco decided on Monday to also remove the song from its Christmas playlist.
“On Monday, December 3rd, 96.5 KOIT Program Director, Brian Figula, made the decision to remove “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” (from various artists) after receiving complaints from listeners, and the trending national story from Cleveland,” a statement on the radio station’s website reads.
But after public outcry, the radio station decided to put up a poll and have the listeners vote on whether or not they should keep the song off the playlist or bring it back.
As of Friday, Dec. 7, 91 percent of more than 11,000 voters said they wanted “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to hit the airwaves again.
9 percent of people voted “No, it offends me. Do not play it.”
