SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — BART trains experienced major delays early Wednesday morning due to an equipment problem near the Montgomery Street station, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.
Smoke filled the Montgomery Street station late Tuesday night just around midnight. The station is open as of Wednesday morning.
The equipment problem was on the third rail along the track. BART crews briefly closed the station until the smoke cleared. One train was taken out of service at the Embarcadero station.
Trains ran on a single track while power crews attended to the third-rail problem.
Train service should be back to normal Wednesday morning.Stay with KRON4 News for updates
