Monday’s supermoon will be the closest to us in nearly 69 years

NATIONAL (KRON) — You will get a chance to see another supermoon next week, and it will not happen again for another 18 years.

On Monday, November 14, the moon will look 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter when it gets the closest to earth in its orbit.

NASA says they are taking advantage of the opportunity by flying their lunar orbiter during the phenomenon.

Monday’s supermoon will be the closest the moon coming to us in almost 69 years.

NASA says closest approach will occur at 6:21 a.m. EST when the moon comes within 221,523 miles (356,508 kilometers). That’s from the center of the Earth to the center of the moon. The full moon will occur at 8:52 a.m. EST.

The last time the moon was so close was in January 1948.
