SANTA CRUZ (KRON) — A two-year-old girl and her mother who went missing in Santa Cruz last week are now safe and sound, according to police.

The two were found Wednesday in Southern California.

Previously, Heather Lara and daughter Ember Perryman had not been seen since Friday morning when they left Friendship Garden in Harvey West Park.

They left the garden on foot, as Lara pushed Ember in a stroller.

With no known cellphone or car, Lara was believed to be headed to Los Angeles, Mexico, or Idaho with her daughter, police said.

Lara allegedly had no custodial rights of Ember when they went missing, and is awaiting a decision from family court on her current custodial status.
